Galeno_Sys:

Galeno Sys is a project supported and financed by ANII (National Agency for Research and Innovation) From Uruguay.

Galeno_Sys. It is a remote monitoring system based on "Internet of Things", for the purpose of diagnosis and assistance in the treatment of cardiac patients.

Consulting specialists, we have detected deficiencies in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac patients.

• Poor or poor quality of follow-up of patients outside the CTI Intensive Treatment Centers.

• Significant difficulties in diagnosing conditions with sporadic presentation, such as arrhythmias or syncope.

• In particular, atrial fibrillation (AF) is an arrhythmia that affects 10-15% of people over 65, it is difficult to detect because it does not cause symptoms in 50% of cases and is the cause of 30% stroke is one of the leading causes of death in the world. Timely diagnosing AF helps prevent this complication, a fact of transcendent epidemiological and economic importance. Current devices (Holter) have a low sensitivity (less than 2%) to detect AF.

 

Galeno_Sys is a medical device, developed according to the latest advances on Information Technology and IoT (Internet of Things).

In our project, these technologies are used to remotely monitor the vital signs of a cardiac patient.

The goal is that a patient who requires it, is monitored in their heart rate regardless of their geographical location or their activity (in the sanatorium in the common room or playing sports as part of their recovery) .Detect possible arrhythmias and generate the corresponding alarms to the health personnel.

Galeno_Sys allows monitoring up to six ECG leads, and sending that information to a Server in "the cloud" where it can be analyzed in real time by a mathematical algorithm or artificial intelligence.

Likewise, the Doctor can see from her office the ECG graphs and values either in real time, or their history.

 

Galeno_Sys. It consists of an electronic device that takes information from four electrodes placed on the patient's chest, and sends the information to the cloud. As long as the patient's geographical location is available thanks to the use of a Smart Device, it is possible to send immediate assistance if necessary.

Galeno_Sys. It provides information "on line" and for a long time unlike Holter devices "off line" and delimited at 24 hours, which represents a great competitive advantage.

By being connected in real time to the Galeno_Sys Server, the system allows to generate alerts and act quickly if necessary, saving lives.

Having the information centralized in a Server, allows, in turn, to apply mathematical or artificial intelligence algorithms that filter the enormous volume of information received, leaving the treating Doctors only the images relevant to the diagnosis.

Likewise, an important centralized Database can easily be generated, with enormous value from a scientific point of view.
